Throughout 2026, Visit Rio Minho Plus invites you to discover this unique destination, now strengthened by a new web platform launched in December 2025, designed to make trip planning easier and to present, in an integrated way, the region’s diversity.
The new communication strategy organises the territory into four major tourism products – nautical tourism, nature, enogastronomy, and heritage – allowing visitors to explore the River Minho thematically, in a complementary way, and tailored to different visitor profiles.
Spring: nature in motion
As the days grow longer, the green along the riverbanks deepens. Spring is ideal for walking and cycling routes, wildlife and flora observation, visits to protected natural areas, and crossings between riverbanks that reveal two sister cultures.
It is also a privileged time for calmer nautical tourism experiences: kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, or small boat trips that let you feel the river’s serene rhythm.
Summer: river, festivities and sharing
In summer, the River Minho comes alive with a different energy. River beaches become meeting points, nautical activities intensify, and historic towns fill with life.
It is the season of festivals, pilgrimages and popular celebrations that reinforce the territory’s cultural identity. Tradition is lived in the streets, in the squares and along the riverbanks, in a calendar that spans Portugal and Galicia and can now be consulted in the new cross-border cultural agenda available on the Visit Rio Minho Plus platform.
Autumn: flavours and vineyard landscapes
As the colours change, harvest season arrives. Autumn is particularly special for those seeking wine and gastronomy experiences: visits to estates, wine tastings, routes through vineyards, and pairings that celebrate local products from both riverbanks.
It is a season for contemplation, when rural heritage, museums and historic centres take on a different light and invite longer, more unhurried visits.
Winter: heritage and authenticity
Calmer and quieter, winter offers the chance to discover historical and architectural heritage at a different pace. Castles and fortresses that shaped the history of the border, historic centres, cathedrals, museums and local traditions reveal the territory’s cultural depth.
It is also an opportunity for more intimate experiences: comforting cuisine, cultural events, community gatherings, all of which reinforce the authenticity of the River Minho.
