Under the title “Borderless Territories”, the Cerveira International Art Biennial (BIAC) proposes a reflection on the concept of the border – across its geographic, social, mental, and political dimensions – exploring how it is expressed today and within artistic creation processes.
Drawing on Vila Nova de Cerveira’s cross-border condition and BIAC’s role in the international art context, the theme approaches the border as a space where forms, memories, and identities are shaped, but also as a site of tension and conflict that frames narratives and ways of telling stories. In a present marked by global transformations, it invites us to think of the border as a territory of passage between the familiar and the unknown, the conscious and the subconscious, the individual and the collective—encouraging transdisciplinary artistic experimentation and openness to new territories.
