Every year around this time, Arbo celebrates the Dried Lamprey Festival, a renowned smoked delicacy prepared in different ways — most typically stuffed with egg and ham or baked in an empanada — with each venue presenting its own recipe.
In this edition, the festival takes place on 7 and 8 August at Carballeira de Turbela, a wooded park with tables, benches, natural shade and continuous activities.
The event features stalls serving stuffed dried lamprey and lamprey empanada, paired with Rías Baixas PDO wines.
The programme also includes guided visits to the Museo Arabo, a popular walk, a Bicycle Festival and tastings of different varieties of dried lamprey, alongside wines from local wineries.
